Four blocks of Metrozone apartments in Anna Nagar lack permanent electricity connections as Ozone Group allegedly fails to implement TNRERA order dated January 5, 2023, say residents.
The Metrozone Residents Association lodged a complaint, leading TNRERA to issue an interim order directing the builder to furnish permanent service connections to the occupants of towers C, D, E, and F.
As of now, the four towers receive electricity from a shared utility connection, according to P Parthiban, the president of the Metrozone Residents' Association, who also claimed that despite numerous pleas and a RERA mandate, the developer has not provided a power connection or essential facilities.
This puts pressure on us to pay inflated electricity bills since we're using a utility connection and encountering power fluctuations
The occupants also disclosed that there have been occasions when individuals had to use the staircase from the 14th level in an emergency situation. In response to TNIE's inquiry, Ozone Group stated that a joint technical committee, including the residents, has been created to investigate the issue, and it will be addressed shortly.
P Jagan, the Chief Executive Officer of Zone Projects (Chennai), stated that they have outstanding dues of Rs 18.50 crore from apartment owners and a legal notice has been dispatched to recover the same. He also alleged that the problem is being politicized ahead of the residents' association elections, while they are trying to resolve it amicably.
