MahaRERA's QR Codes empower homebuyers to access vital project details, including construction progress, promoter identity, completion challenges, registration date, and more, through a single scan of project registration certificates.
Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) launches a pioneering QR-code-based service, enabling homebuyers to obtain transparent information with a single scan.
MahaRERA issued the first project registration certificate with a QR code to the Gera Planet of Joy Project in Wagholi, Pune, last week. Going forward, all new project registrations will feature the QR code, and the authority will gradually introduce it on older project registration certificates as well.
By scanning the QR code visible on project registration certificates on MahaRERA's portal, homebuyers can retrieve essential information regarding the project. This includes details like the project name, promoter's information, completion, and registration dates, and the project's statutory approvals received, among other crucial information.
The QR-code scan will also enable buyers to access vital information such as any modifications made to the project's approved plan, any extensions granted to the project's validity, and any recovery warrants issued against it. The scan will also provide information on the project's financial status and timely delivery, including any complaints and warrants issued against the project.
A MahaRERA official stated, "Homebuyers can now access critical information under Form 5, which mandates developers to provide updated information on construction progress and financial updates every quarter and half-yearly. By scanning the QR code on newly registered project certificates, homebuyers can retrieve this information with ease." The official further noted that the QR code would be gradually introduced to the registration certificates of older projects as well.
MahaRERA has registered over 40,000 projects, of which 11,099 are completed. The authority has received over 20,783 complaints and has issued 14,049 orders on these complaints.
MahaRERA has an edge over other state RERA authority portals as it was the only one to go live on May 1, 2017, the day the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016 came into effect. It was also the pioneer in introducing the Conciliation Forum, a dispute resolution mechanism where homebuyers and developers can settle complaints outside of court with the assistance of MahaRERA-appointed conciliators. Furthermore, MahaRERA was the first authority to implement geo-tagging of projects and provide information about social infrastructure around registered projects.
