On August 14, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) announced that 94 percent of real estate agents in the state have successfully cleared the second round of the competency assessment. exam, a requirement set by the authority. The data reveals that out of the total 3,010 agents who participated in the second batch on August 6, a total of 2,812 agents passed the examination.

In the initial batch held in May, 405 out of 423 real estate agents successfully passed the exam. The Maharashtra government introduced the competency exam to ensure that real estate agents play a crucial role as intermediaries between developers and homebuyers. This requirement stems from an order dated January 10, which mandates agents to complete training and obtain the necessary registration certificate. Approximately 39,000 agents are required to fulfill this training by September 1 in order to get the certificate, as specified by MahaRERA.

Furthermore, in a directive issued on February 13, MahaRERA instructed real estate agents to make their half-yearly progress reports publicly accessible starting from the upcoming financial year. These reports will entail information about projects where developers have assigned agents for sales-related tasks, along with specific details about transactions within a given real estate project. The transparency initiative aims to empower citizens and enhance transparency in the industry. However, financial specifics related to transaction fees collected by agents will not be included in these reports.

As per the statement from MahaRERA, Maharashtra has a total of around 39,000 registered real estate agents under its jurisdiction. Notably, among the successful candidates, three women from Mumbai achieved a score of 96 percent. Additionally, out of the 118 candidates above the age of 60, seven were women. Among the overall 2,812 agents who passed the exam, 360 were women.

The successful agents who took the exam on August 6 hailed from diverse regions across Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Pune, Pandharpur, Latur, Jalgaon, Dhule, Amravati, Akola, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Nashik, Sangli, Satara, and Solapur, according to the provided statement.
