The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-RERA) has mandated that all real estate agents must obtain certification following a training program to ensure compliance with the RERA Act and enhance the sector's transparency and credibility.
Mandatory Certification for New Agents New agents seeking RERA registration must now complete a mandatory training program and obtain certification. This new requirement aims to ensure that all agents entering the real estate sector are adequately trained and knowledgeable about the regulations governing their work.
One-Year Deadline for Existing Agents For already registered RERA agents, the UP-RERA has set a one-year deadline to acquire the necessary training and certification. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the cancellation of their RERA registration. This measure is designed to bring uniformity and professionalism to the sector, which currently has over 6,700 registered agents.
Training Program Details UP-RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Agents in the real estate sector are working without any training and certification. This is not healthy for the sector, and sometimes we have noticed its adverse impact while hearing of the matters."
The training program will span three days, followed by an examination on the fourth day. Upon successful evaluation, agents will receive their certification. The first phase of this program will commence in April 2024 in Lucknow.
Objectives of the Initiative The primary objectives of this initiative are to raise awareness about the provisions of the RERA Act and UP-RERA rules, educate agents about the regulatory structure, and sensitize them to the operational model. This effort is expected to bring greater transparency and credibility to the real estate sector in Uttar Pradesh.
