Certification Exam Introduced for Real Estate Agents in Telangana

In Telangana, real estate agents will soon be required to pass an exam and obtain a certificate to practice. Even current agents must pass the test for license renewal. N Satyanarayana, Chairman of Telangana RERA, stated that they are working with stakeholders to boost realtors' credibility. This initiative follows the Maharashtra model, which also has a certification process in effect.

The planned system comprises a training program followed by an online exam for real estate agents. Ongoing talks with the Hyderabad Realtors Association and the Advocates Association for Social Responsibility and Awareness are in progress to finalize the plan's specifics. Esteemed institutions are anticipated to join in for delivering training and conducting the exam, which will be available in both English and Telugu.

Seen as a pivotal stride in formalizing the real estate industry, this initiative aims to promote transparency and confidence. Taking a cue from Maharashtra's Maha RERA model, agents are required to undergo a full-day certification course and successfully pass an exam, resulting in a five-year valid license.

Chairman of the National Association of Realtors, India, Ravi Varma, conveyed optimism about extending this system to other states. He highlighted that such an approach not only elevates professionalism but also guarantees that real estate agents are adequately prepared to serve as reliable intermediaries in property transactions.
