High Court Issues Notice to State Regarding Unauthorized Structures at Komati Kunta Lake in Nizampet

On Monday, the Telangana High Court took action by serving notices to the state government, instructing them to respond to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). This PIL accuses the state government of failing to prevent illegal construction activities by real estate developers at Komati Kunta Lake in Bachupally village, Nizampet.

The Division Bench, consisting of Chief Justice Alpk Aradhe and Justice NV Shravan Kumar, presided over this matter. The PIL was filed by Akula Satish, a social service worker, who was concerned about the inaction of various authorities, including the district collector of Medchal Malkajgiri District, municipal commissioner of Nizampet, and EE Irrigation, as well as the Tahsildar of Nizampet. Their inaction allowed private real estate developers to engage in unauthorized construction in blocks 8 and 9 within survey numbers 127 and 137, which are part of the Komati Kunta Lake.

During the court proceedings, the petitioner's counsel requested an order to halt further construction activities and protect the water body from potential destruction.

The Division Bench proceeded to issue notices to several key figures, including the chief secretary, assistant executive engineer of the CAD Department, District Collector of Medchal, municipal commissioner of Nizampet, SHO of Bachupally, and P Vijay Kumar Yerram, the representative of Vasavi Infra Private Limited. These notices require them to respond within a four-week timeframe.
